I am not bored. Really, I'm not! I just wanted to try and find a way to put the sweet potato into the bread without cooking and mushing it first. Sweet potatoes are really, really good for you . . . more

Describe Yourself:"I recollected that her eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids—She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.—She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage.—As if anxious to prevent all pretentions of quarrelling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenceless animal; and even when those weapons are shewn and extended for her defence, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal:—Conscious of this, she never wounds till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.
Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America?[2]"

Ellie !., Jun 25, 2009, 11:33PM EDTYup...busy, busy, busy. Monday the mess starts. We need to find lights for the back of the house...and we need to decide on rain chain or copper art/downspout for the front. We need to cover everything and move it away from the windows...most everything should be done by the 15th. I am tired.....zzzzzz

Ellie !., Jun 16, 2009, 10:26AM EDTThe house work hasn't started...yet! Waiting for a custom door. Dang. It's nothing special, just an odd size.
All the work there...or here...will never be done. Ha!
I'm waiting until I retire...and hoping my kids are all mature adults by then!
;-)
Life is busy...our busy time at work...and home too it seems! -
Ellie !., Jun 15, 2009, 11:05AM EDTHey! Good morning! It's 8:05 here and I've been up since 4:15...
I just left you a comment because I saw you posted your garden.
Things are going okay...sometimes busy, sometimes stressful! Just trying to keep what's important in focus! Had a good weekend, so that helps! You take care of you. Digging in the dirt is very helpful...I remember from being a kid!

Madame Donna C., Jun 13, 2009, 10:44PM EDTHey, where have you been? I haven't seen you a quite a while. Missing your gardens and recipes!

Madame Donna C., May 20, 2009, 7:51PM EDTLou Anne, it's been hectic over the last 3 weeks. I was away from home more days than I was at home. Tiring but really fun trips.

Ellie !., May 20, 2009, 12:07AM EDTThe work hasn't started yet...we're waiting on the new windows...those Swedes in Minnesota are making them for us. I think they should start work in 2 to 3 weeks! But we have had fun arguing about, I mean, choosing light fixtures, etc.!!!
-
Ellie !., May 19, 2009, 11:41PM EDTHa! We are having wonderful weather too! And I knew you would be outdoors enjoying digging in the dirt. Sorry about the computer issues tho. I am really looking forward to the long weekend. i'm really, really tired!

Ellie !., May 12, 2009, 2:42PM EDTWell...maybe my sour loaves will get prettier, cuz my last ones were ugly. But nice texture. I think the first time I made it, I used too much flour. I purposely left my dough stickier like mom used to. Made it hard getting it from the peel onto the stone. What I do, I sprinkle lots of cornmeal on parchment, then let the bread proof on it. Then, I slide the peel under the parchment and kinda wrap the parchment over the front of the peel and hold the parchment so it rolls under the peel while I put the loaf in the oven.
ARE YOU LAUGHING YET?
Anyway...I want my dough to be more sour. And I need one of those special baker's blades for slicing...maybe I will drop into the local Sur La Table.
Or, I could just get out my knife sharpener...hahaha!
